Fringe: S106 The Cure

Fresh from the stunning news of being picked up for a whole season of 22 episodes the Fringe episode The Cure carries on in the same brilliant fashion of the recently aired eps The Cure deals with "a woman with a rare disease resurfaces in suburban Massachusetts and inexplicably causes excruciating pain and subsequent death to those she encounters." Puts the 'yuck' factor for blood and gore at about 6 outa 10.

Anyway we digress, FOX has released a whole swathe of info about the ep and it can all be found in the JJ Abrams 'Fringe' Shed over at The Happy Place Forums - pleasant dreams after seeing it *chortle*

South Australian Director/Actor John Noble and Birmingham, Alabama actor and illustrator Jasika Nicole star, see below

FOX UNCOVERS FULL SEASON OF NEW HIT DRAMA “FRINGE”

FOX has ordered an additional nine episodes of the critically acclaimed thriller FRINGE, bringing the series to a full season order, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company.

“We're having a blast working on this show with this great team of producers and amazing cast,” said Reilly. “The series has really taken off creatively, and it's exciting to see that the audience is responding. We believe this is the first full season of many years to come.”

FRINGE has captivated audiences this fall, winning its Tuesday time period weekly among key demographics and ranking as the No. 1 new series in primetime among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. On Tuesday, Oct. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), FRINGE returns with a high-voltage episode as the unlikely trio investigates the cause of a fatal elevator accident that had some very unusual circumstances. They discover a connection to a dangerous man whose developing abilities point to a bigger threat. Meanwhile, Olivia has a highly charged encounter of her own when she is rocked by someone from her past, and Dr. Bishop turns to a methodology Peter thinks is for the birds to help break the case.

Created by J.J. Abrams & Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, FRINGE stars Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo, Blair Brown, Jasika Nicole with Mark Valley and John Noble. 'Fringe' Gets a Ratings Boost in the US

Neilson's Ratings in the US report a massive 59% jump in the ratings for the second episode in the new series Fringe. 13.2 million viewers tuned in to The Same Old Story a mediocre but significant rise on last week's 9 million viewers.

The episode aired after the premiere episode of the fifth season of House MD and is seen as the catalyst for the jump in Fringe viewers holding 91% of the viewers at House. House itself was down 28% from last year's premiere episode.

"According to Fox, the Fringe spike is the largest ratings jump a new series has made from Week 1 to 2 on any broadcast network in more than a decade."

Fingers crossed for a spike/climb next week with the third episode Ghost Network. We here at Gasbo are not privvy to the AusTam ratings in Australia and hold it in contempt along with it's owners.

Anna Torv Interview at the Channel

Ne Multus: "Anna Torv has a lot to be excited about. She went from being an Australian actress unknown in the US to the star of the new show from J.J. Abrams. Now that the season premiere is under her belt, Torv sat down to give us the skinny on her adventures so far on the set of Fringe.

"The Channel: It seems like one minute you were in Australia and the next you were in New York shooting Fringe and now you're on billboards all over the place – how did that happen?

"Anna: It happened so quickly. I tested in Australia and thanks to technology today people in LA were able to see the test within hours of me doing it. It opens the world up for Australian actors, English actors and even Americans too. I auditioned and then had lots of talks on the telephone. I went to LA and met with J.J. and the other Bad Robot guys. Then I flew the next morning to Toronto and we started filming within a couple of days. It was pretty fast and furious but really exciting too." Read more >>
