Title: Poirot: 203 The Lost Mine (1990)
Airdate and time AU: Monday 6 April 2009 at 1230pm
Original airdate UK: 21 January 1990
Network AU: ABC1
Network UK: ITV

Synopsis: Poirot and Hastings are discussing investments and Poirot informs Hastings that he has no thing of that kind except for fourteen thousand shares in Burma Mines Ltd which were given to him as a gift for services rendered. He offers to tell the story of what service he provided and Hastings gladly listens. The mines in question were originally silver mines, discovered by the Chinese in the fifteenth century. The silver was all worked out but plenty of lead remained, not considered being of value at the time but definitely worthy of exploitation at the time of the story. The mine itself was lost, the only clue to its location being old papers in the hands of a Chinese family. The head of the family, Wu Ling, agreed to negotiate a sale of the papers and travelled to England to complete the transaction. Wu Ling was supposed to be met by one of the syndicate company directors, Mr. Pearson, in Southampton but his train there was delayed with the result that Wu Ling made his own way to London where he booked into the Hotel Russell Square and telephoned the company to say that he would see them the next day. He failed to appear at the meeting and the hotel was contacted.

Mrs. Oliver and Poirot begin to investigate Norma, but soon find that she has apparently gone missing. Mrs. Oliver meets the girls with whom she shares a flat at 67 Borodene Mansions: Claudia Reece-Holland (who turns out to be secretary to Norma's father) and Frances Cary, an artsy girl with long, dark hair that falls across her face. Neither has seen Norma recently. Poirot (visiting her paternal great uncle’s home in Long Basing) finds that her father and stepmother also have no idea where she has gone. Poirot does meet David Baker, Norma’s boyfriend, in the house, and sees that Norma’s stepmother, Mary, is highly annoyed to discover him there. Lynda La Plante's Above Suspicion: The Red Dahlia

Title: Above Suspicion: The Red Dahlia : Press Release
Airdate and time AU: Unknown
Original airdate UK: TBA
Network AU: Unknown, hopefully ABC1
Network UK: ITV

Press Release: Award winning writer Lynda La Plante is to make a sequel to her ratings winning drama Above Suspicion starring Kelly Reilly and Ciarán Hinds for ITV1.

She has been commissioned to adapt her second novel, The Red Dahlia, about rookie detective Anna Travis.

The three-part drama, Above Suspicion: The Red Dahlia, will be produced by La Plante Productions, with filming starting later this year.

Above Suspicion, which won audiences of more than seven million, introduced young and ambitious DC Anna Travis, who is fast-tracking her way through the ranks, eager to prove herself to be as successful as her late father.

Kelly Reilly (He Kills Coppers, Joe’s Palace, Eden Lake, Mrs Henderson Presents) returns to the role of Anna Travis. Acclaimed actor Ciarán Hinds (There Will Be Blood, Margot at the Wedding, The Mayor of Casterbridge, Prime Suspect) stars as her boss, the volatile Detective Chief Inspector Langton.

Director of Drama Laura Mackie says: “Above Suspicion was one of the highlights of the Winter Season on ITV1 and I’m delighted that Lynda is bringing Anna Travis back for another gripping investigation”.

Lynda La Plante says: “A copy cat killing of such horror brings DC Travis and DCI Langton back together after Travis has accomplished work on three further cases. The response to Above Suspicion mirrored the response to the first series of Prime Suspect which is very, very exciting. To be making the second one now is a joy and it's marvellous to have had the backing of Laura Mackie and Peter Fincham at ITV1 from day one."
