David Tennant puts on a happy face, in Doctor Who Magazine 406!

Talking exclusively to Doctor Who Magazine, the Doctor himself, David Tennant, talks candidly about presenting this year’s Comic Relief...

“I’m co-presenting this year’s TV extravaganza , on BBC One on Friday the 13th – which won’t be unlucky this year, I promise... Live telly is always exhilarating, but I’m sure this will be even more so, because I’m expected to be fronting it – well, the first hour or so, which does give me some more responsibility...” How does he think he’ll cope presenting alongside Davina McCall? She is, after all, the Loudest Woman on Telly. “Well, I’ve had a word with the sound men to turn my microphone up louder, so I’m hoping that should equalise it out a bit! It’ll be a challenge!” Find out more here >>

Exclusive first look at cast of 'Stargate: Universe'

Immediately following the series finale of Battlestar Galactica tonight, Sci Fi will unveil a 30-second trailer for Stargate: Universe featuring a first look at the show's crew. Actually, make that a second look. This exclusive cast shot to your left is, technically speaking, the first look.

Study it. Discuss it. Share it with friends. And then try connect the names with the faces, 'cause I don't have the time to do that whole left-right-front row-back row thing.

Here are those names now (again, in no particular order): Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips, Justin Louis, Brian J. Smith, Elyse Levesque, David Blue, Alaina Huffman, Jamil Walker Smith, and Ming-Na.

Okay, I'll get you started: Carlyle is front and center.

A quick reminder of the SGU premise: After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by The Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.

What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.

Amanda Tapping chats to MGM

Stargate Magazine Interviews Samantha Carter March 5, 2009 (Actors)

Image depicts Amanda Tapping as Dr. Helen Magnus on Sanctuary, please click to view

STARGATE MAGAZINE ISSUE 27 Now available on newsstands!
Amanda Tapping is a busy woman. Not only is she the lead actress and Executive Producer on the hit show Sanctuary, but she still finds time to occasionally don Sam Carter's uniform.

Despite Carter's departure from Stargate: Atlantis in the first episode of season five, she came back for the series finale. Shooting Sam's return during the show’s final week must have been bittersweet.
"I was there for the last day!" exclaimed the actress when we spoke just after the show wrapped. "I wasn’t there for the last shot, I have to be honest, because it’s a hard shot to watch. I had just wrapped Sanctuary, so I came off my new show and back on to Stargate: Atlantis, and I started feeling weird. It was sad. I was really shocked when it got canceled.

The show was doing well, the episodes this season are really good, it was getting good ratings and everything was in place – it made sense to keep it going. They’re a great crew and I hope that they manage to keep a lot of that crew on for Universe."
The family atmosphere on the Stargate set is legendary, and these very pages often carry tales of the good times to be had in Vancouver. Are there any particular memories from her sojourn to the City of the Ancients that Tapping will take with her? "I’d have to go back to season four. Doing the episode 'Trio' with David Hewlett and Jewel Staite.

I don't know what the fans thought of the episode, and it's probably best that I don’t know, because it was just so much fun! I haven't laughed so hard in such a long time – the whole cast of Stargate: Atlantis are really talented, really nice people. Being able to hang out just the three of us and go through those shared experiences was amazing; me conquering my fear of heights – not really, but trying to; being thrown around on a gimble, and writing Stargate: Atlantis - The Musical. Those kinds of memories are priceless. That for me was a huge highlight."
As far as Amanda Tapping is concerned, that legion of fans deserve special mention: "I’ve always said that the fans have always been paramount to me, and they’ve been amazing. I want to say thank you to the people who have supported, and continue to support me, no matter what I do.

They went over and checked out Sanctuary when it was on the web to be supportive of me, and I appreciate that. Whether they stick with the show or not is entirely up to them, but the fact that they gave it a try is hugely important. The fact that they gave me a chance going over to Stargate: Atlantis is just as big. You remember the bad things, but I really try to remember the good things that people have said, and there have been so many." With two possible movie appearances next year, whatever the future holds, Sam Carter's place in the Stargate-verse will never be in doubt.

Moore and David Eick, and the outstanding ensemble cast is led by Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. Source: NBC

SciFi telly it's on in abundance in Aus and I'm loving it!

So wow, Supernatural is back on 6 October 2008, Knight Rider the Movie is on tonight and there's footie on all day, Fringe is turning out excellent, couldn't expect much less with an old Stargate SG-1 alumni in it, John Noble and another Aussie Anna Torv.

Then there's SciFi Thursday on TEN HD with Eureka the ever repeating never gets unpopular X-Files and Battlestar Galactica (which I only watch bits of, not big on sex and relationships on SciFi Programmes, leave it for the soapies)

I havent watched as much telly for 20 years, all we have to hope is that the totally disfunctional, schizophrenic and anxiety disorder driven Aussie Free To Air telly networks dont listen to AusTAM, which produces for its owners, the FTA mob, unworkable and flawed ratings. It's a real pain in the mitka having to switch the telly off and get stuff by other means.
