Popular Canadian actor Kavan Smith plays Major Evan Lorne on the almost now defunct MGM scifi series Stargate Atlantis. The handsome actor's origins on the Stargate franchise go back to 2003 when he popped up on the Stargate SG-1 episode Enemy Mine. He was never far away from the thoughts of the Stargate fan and eventually found his way onto Stargate Atlantis much to the delight of the fan.
MGM has posted a piece about Mr Smilth and how he got where he is today on the franchise, says MGM, "He has presented a solid, quiet and reassuring presence in Stargate Atlantis since the show’s second season. But what many viewers may not know is that Evan Lorne’s history with Stargate Command – and that of actor Kavan Smith – goes back far further than that. Way back, in fact, to before even Stargate SG-1 had hit the screen. Kavan Smith “Going way, way back, I was actually up for Michael Shanks’ role in the original series,” Smith explains, speaking, rather ironically, from a seat inside the disused Stargate SG-1 gateroom set. “So I knew some of the producers, and particularly Richard Dean Anderson’s partner Michael Greenburg.
