A Star Wars Scripted Series with real Human Beings and Aliens in the offing

Star Wars has been around for yonks and at long last there are signs that we may at last get a real scripted series with humans and all the other rich alien characters may at last make it to the small and 'not so small' tellie screens soonish, MTV Movie Blog reports "EXCLUSIVE: ‘Star Wars’ Live-Action TV Series Casting Underway

'Star Wars'A live-action TV series set in the “Star Wars” cosmos has been an elusive, tantalizing prospect for years. News of the potential production first surfaced in 2005 while George Lucas was promoting “Revenge of the Sith.” Work on the “Clones Wars” animated feature film and Cartoon Network series, though, took creative precedence. In late 2007, Lucas revealed that he and his team were about to begin writing scripts for the live-action show. Now MTV News has learned that casting for the series is currently underway.

During the junket for the Nicolas Cage thriller “Knowing,” star Rose Byrne let slip that Team Lucas is casting a wide net for actors to join the show. “A lot of my friends have been auditioning for it,” she said.

According to Lucas, the show will focus on minor characters from the saga and be set in the time period between “Revenge of the Sith” (Episode III) and the original “Star Wars” (Episode IV). The action will follow the Rebel Alliance as it slowly gains strength against the Empire. There will be Stormtroopers, but no Jedi or Darth Vader will appear on screen. As he did with the “Clone Wars” series, Lucas will write and shoot an entire year’s worth of episodes before looking for a cable channel on which to air the series.

Thus, with casting just now moving forward, it looks to be quite some time before fans will be able to catch some live-action “Star Wars” on the small screen. Bryne couldn’t have been more pleased about her time working with Lucas on 2002’s “Attack of the Clones.” “My experience was wonderful,” she said. “George is a great guy. I was just there for a week, standing behind Natalie [Portman] looking very demure and supportive. 95% of the fan mail I get is from ‘Star Wars’ and I’ve never seen them.”

As much as she enjoyed the “Star Wars” experience, Byrne, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work on FX’s “Damages,” will not be auditioning for the live-action series. “I’m on a show,” she said. “I don’t know if I look that good in space.”

Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV Series

Star Wars The Clone Wars premieres on the US Carton Network on Friday 3 October 2008 at 2100 hours (9pm), the network has released descriptions of the series' key characters.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV Series airdate set.

The US cable channel Cartoon Network announced yesterday that it will commence airing the George Lucas made Star Wars TV series The Clone Wars on Friday 3 October 2008. The first two episodes will air back to back with the first instalment going to air at 900pm and the second at 930pm

The synopses are, Ambush: Jedi Master Yoda is on a secret mission to forge a treaty with the King of the strategic system of Toydaria when his ship is ambushed by Count Dooku. Yoda and three clone troopers must face off against Count Dooku's dreaded assassin Ventress and her massive droid army to prove the Jedi are strong enough to protect the king and his people from the forces of the war and, Rising Malevolence: Creating panic throughout the galaxy, a devastating Separatist mystery weapon terrorizes the clone Starfleet. Anakin and Ahsoka race to save Jedi Master Plo Koon and his clone troopers in time.

Cartoon Network describes the TV series thus, "In the signature style of Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars chronicles the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano and other favorite Star Wars characters as they struggle against the dark side during the divisive, action-packed Clone Wars.

"Each week, a new story in the galaxy-changing Clone Wars comes to center stage, brought to the screen by supervising director Dave Filoni and executive producer George Lucas.

"Dwindling numbers of Jedi fight to maintain freedom and restore peace to the galaxy, using their army of genetically engineered clones against the seemingly never-ending droid army. The terrible conflict grows wider as our heroes are swept into the turmoil of war, while the evil Count Dooku, his assassin Asajj Ventress, their master Darth Sidious, the mechanical General Grievous and a rogue's gallery of never-before-seen villains scheme to defeat them."

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, TEN HD's interview with George Lucas

TEN HD is airing an interview with George Lucas conducted by Angela Bishop at the back end of tonights SciFi Thursday, entitled Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the discussion surrounds his latest cinematic creation the Motion Picture The Clone Wars.
