Trial and Retribution XVI Kill the King Jonathan Carlisle, 48, Head of Paediatric Surgery, is found dead in his own home, signs of a heavy blow to his head.

Trial and Retribution XVII Conviction Ken Randle sits alone in his flat, tense, holding a gun trained on the front door, which is being kicked in. The door gives way, Ken shoots the intruder, Terry Dyer.

Trial and Retibution XIX Tracks Dark night. Torrential rain. The glaring headlights of a car recovery vehicle moving through a sodden, marsh-like building site. It stops, illuminating two faces in front of their stranded vehicles.

Trial and Retribution XX Siren The vastness of the equatorial rain forests - seen from the air. A mighty river curves through it. Paper masks half hide South American faces - brown eyes below thick black hair.

Trial and Retribution XXI Ghost Train The visceral thrills of the fun-fair in full swing. A clamour of colours, blinding lights, the cacophony of noise. A place of excitement, and danger.
